Has anyone been offered a position contingent on getting your CNA license?

I just got a call from a local hospital(I applied expecting it would be a few weeks), and they want to hire me contingent on my passing my certification.

Is this the norm?

In my state you can register after completing training and then start work before certification for a period of up-to 120 days, so it is pretty normal to receive an offer and sometimes even start working before passing the exam and receiving official certification. I interviewed and worked for a full month before getting my certification. If I hadn't received certification in the allotted time frame the facility would have had to either put me on leave, or more likely fire me.
