Is it possible?

Nursing Students CNA/MA

Published

Hello everyone! So I am debating whether or not I should sign up for this CNA program.

I am currently a full time student at Texas A&M but the community college there in College Station is offering a CNA program. I only have class Tuesday/Thursday and the CNA program is M/W 9-4. Do you think I will be able to handle doing both or is it possible? Or do you think it would be way too much?

I have already finished applying to nursing school and have all of my nursing pre-reqs out of the way. I am only taking classes for my major now which aren't too bad.

I would love to hear opinions!

Thanks and gig'em

You should do it if you have the time and money. It will give you some medical background and you will already know some of the stuff that you have to do in your first semester of nursing school. Good luck

It is definately doable!!! Do you work at all? During the summer, I worked full-time, had a summer class, and took a CNA class that held mon, tue, wed, and thur 8-1! I was busy, but because I had so much to do, I could not procrastinate which in turn probably helped me! :lol2:

It all depends, are you going to be going full time this coming semester? If you're going to take college classes part time then it's definately doable. But if you're going to go full time and are working part time, I would advise against it because the CNA class would take away from your other studies. The CNA class isn't hard, but it will take some studying and practicing your skills outside of class. Taking the CNA course is a great idea!

In my state you have one year to take the State Exam. So, you can take the course and take the exam when you are not so busy...less stress for you. You will have to keep up with practicing your skills. As a successful student, I sure you know how to keep up on things. If you can handle your homework for your other classes, then you will probably be ok. I would check with another student and/or instructor about the CNA class. Some seem to be quite easy...simple common sense stuff but you have alot to remember for your test. Other classes may be more ridgid. Mine is not. Good luck!
