Hospital vs nursing home

So I had a interview at unity point health hospital and then a week or so later in desperation to get a job asap walked into nursing home and was interviewed and offered job on spot. Orientation isn't till Tuesday. I got a call back from unity point who I wasn't really expecting to and asked to come in for job shadow. I really want to work at the hospital but I already told the nursing home I can work for them. I'm not even sure if the hospital will offer me a job but I don't want to turn down there offer when they do. Does anyone have any helpful advise or has been in a similar situation? Anything will help!

If it is the hospital position you want and it's offered to you, then that's the one you should take....even if, in the meantime you are orientating at the nursing home.

You could tell the nursing home that you can start on a specific date (delaying until you hear more about the hospital position). If the nursing home was willing to hire you on the spot, they are clearly desperate for help and will wait for you...there is no doubt in my mind. Also, keep in mind, any place willing to hire on the spot is a red flag that it is a difficult environment to work in and is chronically short staffed.

Thanks for your advice. I talked to someone else and they basically said the same thing. The nursing home has better wages but I like the hospital setting. I guess I will see at the job shadow if that's really what I want.
