help! transfer license from MN to wi

Nursing Students CNA/MA

Published

I am currently a Minnesota nursing assistant and have been working as an aide for almost a year. I am on the registry and everything. I plan on moving to wisconsin . I wanted to transfer my license over but I do not have enough classroom/clinical hours according to Wisconsin registry requirements. I have 103.5 hours of both classroom and clinicals. Wisconsin requires 120 classroom hours and 25 clinical hours. Is there any way I can just take a refresher course to get those extra 40 hours? Or do I have to completely take the class over again? Or can I just test out through Pearson vue? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

I'd try to get in contact with someone in wisconson about it. Maybe by email. It might be that even though Wisconson has a few more hours they want you to have in class it might not pertain to someone that already has a CNA certificate. Maybe it is just for those that are looking to get a certificate. I believe that you being a CNA for a year has to count for something and the extra class room time may not be needed in your case.
