Help finding CNA classes...

Nursing Students CNA/MA

Published

Hi there! I really want to get into nursing and I think that getting my CNA would be a great stepping stone into the industry. My problem is that I don't really have the money to take the classes in my area. I've searched for free ones and the only thing I can find is a class that offers financial assistance if applicable. Well, it turns out I don't qualify because I'm not a poverty level and I didn't lose my previous job. I've thought about calling nursing homes up and asking if they will pay for me classes, or help me get through, but I don't know how to word myself. There's a nursing home not too far from where I lived who posted a thing on Career Builder but it has this "Must be certified & in good standing on the State Nurse Aide Registry" . . . and that pretty much has me discouraged. This is something I really want to do, but I can't seem to do it. I don't want to end up with another job I can't stand. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There ARE nursing homes that still offer free training courses on a regular basis, but these are becoming fewer and harder to get into.

Just call nursing homes in your area (ask for whoever is in charge of hiring nursing staff) and ask "Do you offer free CNA training?" The worst they can say is "No." :)
