Hello everyone, I am currently taking my pre req's to be an RN and I really want to become a cna to gain some experience of what this field will be like. Does anyone know any places I can train to become a cna in NJ for free? Can i go to a nursing home or hospital to train. Sorry if I sound stupid, but Im clueless... Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks in advance for your time.

Hi, I'm not in NJ, but saw that no one has reponded to you yet so I'll try to help. In California some nursing homes will train you to be a CNA. You'll work full time for 8 weeks usually for minimum wage and will give the facility at least a year of employment after becoming certified. We also have something in our area called an R.O.P. (I don't even know what that stands for) that does CNA training very cheap, I think for about 100.00- CPR, TB test, vaccines, and exam fees are extra. I think it's 10 weeks M-F for 3-4 hours a day. I got my CNA training from a local community college which is also a good deal and I had lecture one day a week and clinicals one day a week for 16 weeks. Maybe NJ has some similar programs for you to look in to. Good luck!
