Nursing Students CNA/MA

I was told to give the phone to patient, not mine, wasn't told to stay, she fell.

I am taking responsibility and I'm sorry that the patient got hurt more. I'm thinking I should of had better training there and in school more practical real time experience in ltf or alf. Sorry if it showed like I didn't care.

Nah, don't put it down. The place sounded slummy if they didn't take the time to invest in you, then why should you bother? Let the next job know that you are new and would like to be orientated in. I've been a CNA with hha for 2 years on each case so a total of four years (from age 20 till 25 right now) I decided to pick up CNA in the fall and the job I got hired at STILL orientated me to their pt's for 2 months! It was crazy and a lot more in depth than I had started, but overall I knew they cared not just for the pt but for their staff as well.

I don't think u understand, I'm trying to get another job at a nursing home or hospital. I was just out of training and I don't think its fair that my career should be over. I would like to go into nursing, and I do well with the one client now, no falls, bathing, dressing, transfer, changing and such. I need more money though, and I do well in the classroom too.

2 month orientation?? Man, that's awesome, I wish I had received that much orientation. The nursing home I worked at only gave me 4 days of orientation in spite of the fact that I was an inexperienced CNA fresh out of school, then sent me out on my own. To be honest I could have probably benefited from a lot more orientation.

To the OP: Just learn from your mistake and move on. Apply for other jobs in the CNA field and make sure that you take precautions in the future to ensure this never happens again. You should be able to get hired somewhere else, my first CNA job at a nursing home didn't work out so well either and I was also scared I'd have trouble finding future employment, however I actually got hired almost immediately afterward at a nearby assisted living. So just pick yourself up, move on, learn from your mistakes and most importantly, don't give up. Keep trying until you've got yourself another job.
