Do CNAs get license numbers ?

Nursing Students CNA/MA

I just past my CNA state exam. I just wanted to know, do we get a cerficate number, license number, or what?

You will receive a certrification number. "Certified" Nursing Assistant. Nurses are licesensed(sp).

That's what I thought. "Certified"nurse assistant. I was trying to explain that in another forum, not allnurses, and they proceeded to refer it as renewing thier "license."

Even the person from the Health Department refer to them as license number. Anyways Thanks.

I guess it depends on your state & what they choose to call it. In MD, everyone (med.tech.,CNA,GNA,med.aides,LPN,RN) is issued a license number, it just has a different letter to denote which type of license the individual has. For example, me being a CNA/GNA, my license # begins with the letter "A" followed by 8 numbers. RN's licenses begins with the letter "R", lpn's license #'s begins with LP, and med tech's licenses begins with MT. Have you received any information from your state BON yet? It might take a while depending on where you are. Some are faster than others.

I'm still waiting for my official state document, but I was confused about what you get as a nurse assistant in California. Thanks for your insight though.
