CNA Job- Perdiem 1 day + working every other weekend?

Hi everyone!

I apologize if the answer to my question is obvious but I was confused and would like to please ask.

I plan on applying to a per diem CNA job but probably will start with working only one shift/one day per week to start off (since I'm still going through nursing school currently).

I plan on starting with only Sunday at first for now.

But a lot of applications states "working 8 hour shift including every other weekend".

So does this mean I'll work Sunday one week, then Sat+Sun the next, then only Sun the next week etc?

Also, the reason why I am starting out with only one day is because I am still unclear about the workload of the semester so I want to slowly start out working only one day a week. I guess one shift a week is too little?

It likely means you would work one day of the regular Monday through Friday schedule, Saturday and Sunday, then one shift during the week and then a weekend off. Most places are going to require you to work every other weekend and both the Saturday and Sunday shift.

I would interpret that to mean you will be required to work at least one 8 hour shift a month (regardless of the day of the week) and every other weekend.

In your situation it sounds like you will work every Sunday and in addition you will work every other Saturday.

Keep in mind, if you are per diem, even tho you may WANT to work every Sunday, you may not, since, it's according to what the facility needs, not what you need. So you could at times end up working only every other weekend....OR no weekend at all.

What they also don't always tell you right off is that you will likely have to work at least one major holiday a year.
