I have only did one interview and that was a couple of weeks ago I really hope that

I did good for never doing an interview. Interview can sure make you anxious I know they

do me not knowing what to really say being New to CNA.

Any suggestions out there from first year or more experience would be grateful!

Being a CNA is a wonderful job to have, and can pay very well once you have enough skills and experience. Its not uncommon to see a CNA making 15+ dollars/hour after gaining enough skills in other areas. Some say that it is a thankless job, but I've never experienced that. Patients are always grateful for the care that you can provide them in their time of need, as well as the families. Some nurses may be arrogant around you, but that quickly gets corrected once they experience enough shifts without you being there to help them. Good luck on your nursing career and always keep learning!

I've always gone into an interview with the mind set that not only are they interviewing me for the job, I am also interviewing THEM.

They want to know what skills I have and what I can bring to them.

I think of it as: Is this the place that I want to work? ....I'm going to find out!

It helps me to relax and actually gives me more confidence in an interview....because you are, in a way, looking to see if this is where you want to work. Will you like where you work, do they pay well enough, are there opportunities to use your skills and learn new ones? Is the work environment good, safe?? Do co-workers/supervisors work well together? What is the work load like??? Does the facility use mechanial lifts for patients that need it? (not all do & I learned the hard way once), how many patients will I typically have?? Can you get a quick tour of the facility? (When you get the tour, look at the CNA's & attitudes, cleaniness of facility, listen to how CNA's interact with residents & each other.....).

All those things are important if you're going to spend any amount of time in a facilitly of any sort working.

I have heard (and experienced) many horror stories of working in a nursing home/assisted living facility. Some are terrible to work for and will make you regret ever being a CNA! Other places are awesome to work for! Check out the place before you accept a position, especially if you are a brand new CNA!

Thank you for they advice! I am so hoping that I will like and want to work at this place I am really hoping to get into. It's close to home and when I went there they first time I really liked how there facilities was setup.
