Applying before certification

Nursing Students CNA/MA

I am taking my exam on the 15th and I really want to get started applying for jobs, but I'm not really sure what to put when it asks am I certified. I know jobs usually take a few weeks to get back to you, so hopefully I would be certified by that time. I just don't want them to read that I'm not certified and decide to overlook my application.

In my state (Illinois) I think it is around 90 days you can work until you are certified.

Did anyone else apply before having the certification?

I just searched the Illinois Health Care Worker Registry and I am listed on it. Not sure what this means.

Specializes in Long term care.

I submitted applications before I passed the state test. On the application where it asked if I was certified I answered no and then put in my test date.

I was still called for an interview before I even took the test and told that when I was certified that I should apply again.

Some places will hire you before you are certified because you have a specific amount of time to pass or you loose that position.

If you are on the Illinois health care worker registry before you even took the test, I would bet that it actually lists you as having taken the CNA course rather than being certified. Or maybe someone has the same name, so there must be a more detailed way of identifing who you are???? just a guess??

It is me, they ask for info to verify if it is a certain person and my information matched.

Thanks, I think I'm still going to apply and just answer no

Yes!!! I would apply esp if your test date is right around the corner. Even after you interview it's still a process...references..background check etc...on the application under license I would just write your test date I did it and it worked. Some places will not give you a interview w/o it while others will...good luck
