AHH!! Applied almost 25 places, and not even a consideration

Nursing Students CNA/MA

Published

I am getting so frustrated, I took my CNA/HHA exam in may, passed and started applying for jobs right away at nursing homes, home health agencies, hospitals as CNA or anything that could get my foot in the door at a job, and nothing! Not even a call back. I don't know what to do, I need a job so bad, and I was so pysched to be able to do something other then retail, but no one is even looking at my resume.

Does anyone have any ideas for me? Maybe some tips that have helped you find jobs? I am in MN and i know this is a horrible state to try to get a healthcare job right now, but i thought there would be something.

Thanks!

Are you applying for advertised jobs? If not I would save yourself some grief.

Some of the people I did my class with actually looked up who was advertising for CNAs and went to apply in person. A few of them were interviewed on the spot. Of course they were careful and they made sure that they had a copy of their resume, certification etc. Also, they went dressed for an interview and had done some minimum research about the place before hand (how long they have been around, who owns them, what kind of care they provide etc.).

If I was stuck that is what I would do. Knock on doors.

Good luck.

Well said!!!!! The best way to get a job in to knock on doors, dress professionally, have a firm hand shake and look directly into the interivewer eyes and always have questions to ask when the ask do you have any questions, show them you are interested in there company, position and how you can make a diff working there. You also have to keep in mind that when you apply for jobs via e-mail, internet, etc.. they are getting resumes from others to.. so just go in and get that job!!!!!
