Is assisting with personal care, ADL's while in CNA school (but not yet certified) considered practicing nursing

without a license? there are several home health agencies that offer you jobs like these as long as your medical

clearance.

As long as you are doing tasks which fall under the job description of home health aide or CNA and not those of a licensed nurse, you are ok. Basically, you can remind a client to take their meds, you can not give the meds. No procedures that are invasive in nature. You will be trained on your limitations by the agency that hires you. If you obtain such a job on your own, such as when you get hired after responding to a want ad, you can do whatever the employer and you agree upon. You would be working under their direction, with their assurance that they won't hold you legally responsible for something they have instructed you to do. Better to get a CNA/HHA certificate and work for an agency. You will have greater protections on the job and can command a higher salary.
