Have any CNS's moved from one state to another and lost their APN priviledges???

okay, i live in il where cns is an apn with full prescriptive authority. my husband lives closer to mo and has asked me to move and get a job there. however, in mo, cns is not an apn. so, if i was employed there, i would not have prescriptive authority - i would be looking at a more traditional cns role.

has anyone moved from one state to another and had this happen? was it a huge change.

I think that CNS's have prescriptive authority in MO, check this link out:

this is a list of recognized APN and CNS's are listed. Maybe call the board of nursing to clarify. I know that all APN's in MO can not prescribe narcs. However, in my grad school classes (at that time SLU), even though I was the only CNS student in pharm, they still had me "write" scripts because I would be able to prescibe in MO.

I am not familiar with the IL side of St. Louis, but I am betting there has to be some hospitals on that side of the river. Would that be a possibility?

Also, this was just this last semester, so I think that the prescriptive authority is current information. However, I am transfering schools due to some issues, however, I did directly email the prof asking about the CNS presciptive authority issues and she stated that CNS' do have prescriptive authority. Sorry, night shift brain...
