Transfer Credits for MSN-FNP?

Has anyone had success transferring MSN core course credits from an outside accredited program to Chamberlain's FNP program? I have read the school policy on graduate transfer credits and it seems like I can, but I was just looking for any experiences.

I am a capstone/5 credits from completing an MSN in Informatics at Excelsior College, but I have hit a wall in getting this done and I have also had some career revelations that are leading me in another direction. I did my RN to BSN at Chamberlain and loved it, so I am seriously considering the FNP program. I will qualify for alumni and military discounts in tuition as well as having my GI Bill for funding, so cost won't matter much. I will be contacting Chamberlain this week to discuss my plan, so perhaps I will be in this program soon. Thanks for any insight!

I was able to transfer one out of the two classes I took from another school. It was only one because it was the only class that fit in their curriculum. The other class was similar to another of their but it was not needed for the FNP program so it did not transfer. I would call and have a transfer eval done and see what could be transferred. Also I know some school have a cap on how many credits can be transferred and I am not sure what chamberlains policy is.

Good luck to you!

Thanks for the response! They didn't mention a cap in the catalog, so I was wondering about that. From the curriculum review I did, I have covered the MSN core - if only it transfers! Fingers crossed. How far along in the curriculum are you?

I start September 1st. I'm looking forward to it. I had to delay my start so I'm excited to get started.

Awesome, congrats! Maybe I will "see" you in some classes. :)

Small update: the 1 September start date is full, so I'm looking at 27 October. That should give me time for credit evaluation, transcripts, and getting my GI Bill funding rolling. Apparently I can transfer up to 15 credits for the FNP track; the limit for other tracks is 6 credits, so that's a bonus for me! Fingers crossed for max credit acceptance. :)

Pixie,

How many credits did you get transferred in to the fnp program? I want to apply. Thanks

Just theory and research - my two least favorite classes at least, haha. But just to be clear, I didn't finish the FNP MSN - I ended up switching to the Nurse Educator track.
