I am about to start an online rn to bsn through Chamberlain College of Nursing on march 1st 2010. I've read lots of reviews, more good than bad, so I decided to proceed. I am wondering if anybody out... Read More

Apr 21, '11I had a female instructor as well, but the person who does the live lectures is male. He does the live lectures for ALL the stats classes - so don't worry
Also, the lectures are recorded so you could view them at any time. During my session he taped them on Sunday night, which never worked for me because I work PM's - which include every other weekend, so I usually watched the lectures by Tuesday. You will do great!
If I am ahead of you, I won't be for long, as I'm only taking one class at a timeI started in August (Summer B session) this year. I've taken Transitions, Algebra, Stats and Informatics. I really enjoy the pace of one-course per session. I have minimal (if any) stress. I'm newly married [1.5yrs], work full time and found out I'm pregnant (yay!) so I don't want to overload myself. Unfortunately, this means I will not finish until next August - but, I may take up an extra class when I'm out on maternity leave this winter (maybe).

Apr 21, '11Quote from Her Own Catalyst RNCongrats on the baby and newly married! I've been married for 28 yrs, 3 grown children, and 1 grandchild. Went back to nursing school when my kids were younger, been nursing 10 years now. Our hospital just achieved magnet so they are really encouraging their nurses without a BSN to get it. So here I am, thanks for all your help and I will be looking into that web site. You'll love Health assessment will reinforce what you already know and improve your nursing skills.I had a female instructor as well, but the person who does the live lectures is male. Awesome!Thank you! We are thrilled to be expecting :redpinkhe The hospital I work for has talk about going magnet, but I think they're really going to have make big changes to achieve it. Not to mention, every charge nurse that works there is a diploma-RN, and I'd say 75-85% of the floor nurses are diploma RN's. Best of luck!

Apr 24, '11Quote from seniorrnIf I remember correctly you need the book because you have to post to the answers to homework problems to the discussion board. It has been a while since I took it there but I am pretty sure you need the book. The only book I can say I never used was the community health book.Did you use the book alot for stats? Very expensive was looking for used one!

Apr 24, '11I have to say that for the majority of my Chamberlain classes, they didn't ask us to get a book unless we actually used it.
-
Apr 25, '11Yeah, I bought the book used on Amazon, because your discussion topics are posted problems from the book. They give the option of buying it online as a "online book", but I hate those.

Jun 5, '11Who was your instructor for the Math 221 ? I'd like to try and get that same class..... Thank You.... Katie O.

Jun 6, '11I don't quite remember who my instructor was, but again, it doesn't matter who your actual instructor is - the live lecturer in statistics is the same for all the classes, and he makes it a relatively easy (but labor intensive) class.

Jun 21, '11Wow, there are that many diploma programs still around to have that many in one facility! I graduated from one 35 yrs ago & am finally getting my BSN through CCN online. I am really enjoying the program. I'm not looking forward to STATS either but the discussion here has eased my apprehensions. I have taken Health Assessment, Eng. Comp, Transitions, and Informations systems, taking Algebra 114 this upcoming semester.

Jun 21, '11i will have to say that chamberlain has really been a disappointment. i went with this school based on the reviews here. i have had a great experience until now, and i am very close to graduation. things have changed in the program since i have started. i was making very good grades, really applying myself, and enjoying all of my classes. this last semester has been a nightmare(and no i'm not talking about the math classes-got an a in both of those). i've been posting over 4 posts per each thread, all with outside sources, interacting with my classmates and instructors, and still losing a ton of points. my papers have been crucified as well. student services is not doing anything to remediate this. it's like they know that i'm this far in ( 2 classes from graduation) and won't pull out now. plus, i'm in a heap of debt because this school is so expensive. i obtained a 3.97 gpa in my adn class, which has been within the last 5 years.
if you are starting at this school, run! it is not worth the high tuition to be crapped on. others that have recently started the program have said the same thing. i don't know what has changed, but the grading is different now. -
Jun 24, '11I also attend this school and have 5 classes until my projected graduation in December. I can hardly wait. I have had no real complaints, but have had a few instructors that have not impressed me. They criticize for our typos, but yet their grammar is ridiculous! I can't say I have found it easy at all, but I work crazy shifts and lots of OT. Maybe if I had a set schedule it would be easier. Lots of papers!!!! I am heading into statistics and economics and I'm scared to death! I would appreciate any advice...Thanks!

Aug 23, '11Just finished community nsg and research, doing economics and collaborative healthcare next, capstone and history next, than done. How was economics? Easier that stats I hope?
