First time on website :) question about tuition

Hi you all wonderful people!

I have been thinking about going to this school since my friend just graduated from here and she got the job she wanted. The tuition on the website says $85,000 for the whole 3 years BSN degree. I only qualify for $9,000 a year federal loan. How are you all paying for this expensive school?! Also I live 1.30 hrs away from the college so I'm also worried about all the traveling. How log do u guys have driven? And I really don't wanna take out private loans

I plan to eventually move forward with my BSN, however, for the time being, with a toddler and one income coming in ( my husband) I have to start slow. I am going for my associates and once I get a job I will start my schooling for BSN where the job has tuition reimbursement, scholarships, etc. and of course there will be 2 incomes in the home at that point. It will take me a little longer but financially it's what best for our family.

Also I know all areas are different but in my area the school does clinical at one to two places and both offer summer internships between semesters along with almost a guaranteeing of getting hired if you do both the clinical and the summer internship.

I think I am going to do the exact same thing.mi am going for my associates and then get a job with some reimbursement hopefully to do my BSN. A BSN right from the start sounds great but it won't when I owe $50k or more. I know I'll be miserable with this huge debt in my shoulders.

Maybe if my parents were paying for my school I would go balls out lol

As far as student loans go I had two different financial aid counselors tell me, when my daughter was applying to colleges, to never take out more student loans than she can realistically expect to make in one year of working after school. Realistic does not mean planning to get hired into the highest pay scale or planning to work 6, 12 hour shifts a week.

Hi all! I'm a perspective student to Chamberlain in Chicago and wondered about tuition. I know the complete cost, but is it broken down into years or one whole lump sum in the beginning? Thanks!

I do the online RN-to-BSN and you you per 8 week session. I do the payment plan since I get some reimbursement from my employer.

Hey everybody. I know this is an old post but maybe one of yall will see it. I know Chamberlain is very expensive but how do you finance the schooling beyond federal loans? I know federal loans have a cap so what exactly is a private loan? I am interested in doing the public service loan forgiveness program but I do not think that private loans count. Any info would help :)

I completely know what you are going through. Be aware of Chamberlain College of Nursing however. This school had me retake classes that I have taken numerous times in the past and even within the past five years. Many of the classes were not even science based, therefore, the 5 year frame should not apply.

That school will lie to you and say they will help you but just want your money. They prey on potential nursing students that desire to become nurses at any cost. They use the registered trademark of Clep ® and fooled me into thinking I was taking an official "Clep exam." I informed the real Clep ® agency and they are aware that their registered trademark is being used at this college. The testing at CCN was extremely easy for me due to my extensive background in biology, science and high score on MCAT, yet they kept telling me I failed. None of the test scores went to the government Clep ® and they never would state that "could not give my score". CCN continuously inundated me with more fees and costs for testings and "hidden fees" and later admitted it was there "own" profiency test. When I asked to speak to the president about seeing my score, they said, "ya know, you must not really want to become a nurse." This college is extremely unprofessional and the corrupt beuacracy is evident. They keep switching clinical compliance agencies that handle the nursing students' compliance and will find the student incompliant for no valid reason (when the previous agency had you compliant). Although, their intention could be that these students end up paying more money due to not being able to take nursing classes; hence quite corrupt. CCN still makes out in money every time by scamming the student nurse.

Also, be aware CCN is owned by Devry and Devry is being sued by the FCC and other authorities.

I was paying $4,000 a month and I have several academic degrees (almost PhD/Doctor degree). Without giving my identity away, my college education is concentrated on medicine and the biological sciences.

Most of the teachers at CCN were awful and had no knowledge of patient care. I worked EMS and other branches of medicine for 15 years and could not believe how stupid they were. I have comrades that have gone through the same scenario. We were smart enough to jump ship but owed that college over $35,000 for just a full year into the program (some owed more, others just slightly less).
