Chamberlain College of Nursing BSN in Phoenix

Nursing Students Chamberlain College

Published

Hey, everyone!

I am planning on attending Chamberlain College of Nursing in Phoenix this September for my BSN. I have heard that a lot of their BSN classes are online. I am curious as to which ones specifically are online. Also, are the ones offered online also offered in a classroom setting? I feel like I would enjoy the class more if I took it in a classroom.

Thanks for the help!

Hi There! I currently attend Chamberlain in Phoenix as well! Most classes are offered on campus, and some are offered online. From what I've heard, I can recommend to take most online and have done so. If you have a few generals to take, I've taken almost all of them online and it was fine! I've taken every nursing class online except Patho II. Depending on what semester you're taking your actual nursing classes will depend on what I would personally recommend. In one semester, they will have you scheduled for NR 224 (Fundamentals), NR 281 (Patho I) and NR 302 (Health Assessment). If you can, I would HIGHLY recommend splitting patho from that group. The sooner you take it the better. If you take all three of those together, be prepared to be overwhelmed. Nearly everyone in my cohort struggled with those three classes at once because there isn't enough time to get everything done. I'm not trying to scare you though, just looking out! I went from straight A's to struggling to keep my head above water. Okay, back to online vs. campus. Pharmacology is usually only offered online; but is offered on campus about once a year from what I've noticed. Everything I have heard is take it on campus if at all possible! I am taking it in September so I can't really attest to anything besides that.

Thank you for your helpful response, I'm sorry I didn't respond sooner. I am very excited to start classes in a few days!

I am coming into school with a decent amount of transfer credits-- so during many semesters I will technically be a part-time student. I haven't decided if this is a good thing or a bad thing-- if the classes get rigorous, then I am sure I will be thankful! I'm looking at my Degreeworks now, and I am scheduled for all three of those nursing classes in one semester. However, the semester before that, I am only taking SOCS 350 and ETHC 445, totaling 6 hours. Maybe I could ask my advisor about moving NR 281 up a semester.

Good luck with your classes this semester :)

Hello!

I checked out many schools before I chose one and Chamberlain was one of them. They have a great campus and great program but I worried about some of the online classes as well. Thus, I ultimatley decided to go with Brookline College. Their entire program is on the ground campus which I love! I would much rather meet with the professors face to face on a weekly basis. I just started this past Tuesday (September 2nd) and after my first week I am extremely pleased! The professors are great and the campus is nice and personal. They made the admissions process incredibly easy and stress free (****************). I am excited to continue my education there and I will finish my BSN program in less than 3 years which is another reason I chose Brookline!

I hope your program is going well but if you are uncertain about it, I would say check out Brookline (plus they are close to Chamberlain so you wouldn't even have to travel far) :)

Good Luck and hope this helped!

Heston - Are you still happy with your decision?

Everyone - I'm so frustrated and stressed about choosing a school. Everything I'm being told by both admissions people at Chamberlain and Brookline is contradicting. Regional vs national accreditation, school vs program accreditation, employability after graduation. Chamberlain says they would not accept a Brookline BSN degree nurse into their MSN program. But Brookline is on the approved list on the AZ state board of nursing as fully accredited and recommended. Chamberlain has so many upfront, non-refundable fees and hoops to jump through. Brookline has seemingly made the process easy (maybe too easy?) and I don't want to cut any corners when it comes to spending this kind of time and money on my degree.

PLEASE HELP!
