Altace, any information?

hey folks, I am looking for information on the drug called altace (used to treat htn). I did not know where to post this, so I posted here since many of you have to keep up with many drugs in your daily work. My doctor just put me on this medicine for my htn, and while I have had no problems so far with (been about 72 hrs now) it, I am still curious about it, and what I should be aware of. I have read the patient information sheet on it, and what is posted at http://www.rxlist.com, but nothign really jumps out at me. Thanks.

nrw350,

is this your first med for htn? have you been on anything else?

this is the third time that i have been on htn medicine. 1st time was atenolol and norvasc, 2nd time was diovan hct, and now altace.

Your pharmacist should have provided a drug information pamphlet with the medication. You can always ask your pharmacist. Better yet -- always remember to ask your physician about any new medication when he/she prescribes it ... and you can always call your MD with any questions.

nrw350,

from my experience with altace or any other ace inhibitors is mainly dry coughs, that just won't go away. and it can happen whenever, doesn't matter if you've been taking it for yrs. so i would just look out for that. and on few occasions i've ran into angioedema, rash, itching, but not as much as the dry cough. hope this helps.
