i wasn't sure exactly where to post this so i figured i would ask the crna's or np's......can you take an advanced physiology class or advanced pharmacology class without being in a masters program? i have a bsn already and eventually i will pursue my masters but i am interested in taking some advanced science classes now just for knowledge reasons. i know that may seem kind of crazy. but i like school and learning. any information you can give me would be helpful. btw, i do work fulltime so this would be a one class at a time thing. thanks :)

Of course you can. Call your local university and ask if you can pay by the credit and take classes on a non-matriculated basis. Also, your employer may pay for part of the class-- I know my hospital pays something like 80% of grad classes (you front the money first, and then they reimburse you!).

thanks for the response. i was under the impression that you had to be accepted into a program with the right gpa, credentials etc.., before registering for those type of classes.

we had a person in my a&p class that wasn't in the program

There is no NA program at my universisty, but there is a graduate program in physiology. Since you aren't yet in grad school, in order to take grad classes, you just have to get instructor permission. You don't have to enroll in grad school. Tell them your situation and I'm sure they'd let you in the class you want.
