what are some direct-entry programs for nursing education for those who already have a bachelor's degree in another area other than nursing? I know georgetown U in D.C. has one. Thanks.

thanks for the information about the yale program. It sounds like a great program. So during the prespecialty year, are you doing general clinicals like you would in nursing school? And then you become an RN and begin pursuing your specialty? You said there are other programs that are similar to Yale's direct entry program. Can you name them?

Yes, during your prespecialty year you are doing general nursing clinicals. Your second year, you begin pursuing your specialty and you will become an RN in the spring of that year (You will usually take the NCLEX during the spring semester of specialty year #1). But, by that time you will have already rotated through antepartum, gyn, and some of intrapartum as well for your specialty focus.

There are lots of programs out there but unlike Yale, these all have pre-reqs. You can find a full list here: http://www.midwife.org/eduprog_options.cfm?id=2

Good luck with whatever you decide! There are probably really long threads for some of the schools on the general pre-nursing and also the master's forums. Here's the thread for Yale: https://allnurses.com/pre-nursing-student/anyone-applying-yale-328683-page42.html#post3440499 (It's 42 pages!).

I would love to attend the yale program. It seems like you'd be done a lot sooner compared to other programs. The only thing is location. I do not want to have to relocate to go to school, which is why I am looking at the Georgetown program.
