Just wanted to let all Frontier hopefuls that I am at FB right now (class 63) and it is awesome! I had been doubting myself a bit and was kind of at a low point when I got here and I feel so energized being able to be around so many people who have the same vision for healthcare that I do, not just the other midwife hopefuls, but the FNPs and the (one) WHCNP student. It is an amazing experience and unlike anything you probably have experienced before in school. Keep going, I am so excited for our profession and what we can accomplish together. To anyone doubting themselves about how they are going to make this work in their life, Frontier helps you make it work, they actually want you to succeed because they are truly committed to getting CNMs and NPs in the workforce where we are needed.

Yes, I'm still considering Frontier. I have contacted via email and we are supposed to talk Monday evening....I just have some questions....You know, I almost never have this kind of problem making a decision about anything!

Hi! I was just checking in to see how your conversation went. What do you think? Did you get any good information?

All of you are so inspiring. I'm not even an RN yet but already have my eye on Frontier. I just gave birth to my fourth baby with a midwife and that launched me into this life changing decision. I am so excited about what the future holds. Good luck to all of you.

Well, the bad news is that I never received my call. She emailed me and apologized for not calling as per our appointment and asked if the following Monday evening would be good for me, I replied that it would be. I waited all evening and made everyone stay off the phone all evening...nothing...and this time she didn't send me an email...so...

Why don't you just give her a call??

I'm really sorry to hear that. Please try (although I'm sure it is difficult) to not let one person's actions color your view of the school. It is still a great school with great faculty, students and alumni. It stinks, though, that you had this bad experience.....

If Im understanding the OP's post correctly, she shoudn't have to call. This is the SECOND time she's missed the call. I guess the OP could call her, but I wouldn't blame her if she didn't.

This is first impression kind of thing and one missed call may be understandable, but two missed calls is inexusable and leaves a bad taste.

Hi-

I am a fairly recent graduate of FSMFN and am concerned about the fact that you were basically "stood up" on two occasions. I'm also surprised, as I had excellent experiences all the way around at Frontier. Were you supposed to be talking with an admissions person or a faculty member? (I don't expect for you to name names). I know that this is not typical of Frontier, and I'm just curious. I know that some staff has changed, etc. since I attended. You can always contact the Dean (Sue) personally. I know that she cares about the school's reputation and that she's amazing at helping students (and prospective students) get what they want and need. Her contact info should be on the school's website.

Best of luck as you follow your dreams!

I am in the process of deciding between Frontier and Univ of Cincinnati for midwifery. Did you decide which school to attend? If you have any further insight between the 2 schools that would be great! I'm having such a difficult time deciding - it's hard without actually visiting the schools....or knowing anyone who attended them. Thanks!

Yes, I decided to go with UC, the reason being that I have time constraints and am not required to go to the UC campus. I admit I am hesitant, because I feel the pull of the "Frontier", the students seem to have a wonderful camaraderie.

I actually know someone who graduated from Frontier and she has nothing but wonderful things to say about the school and program. Also, there is a Frontier CNM graduate that has her own practice nearby, but she no longer delivers babies because of family obligations/time and the fact that is horrible in my state. She also loves the school.

I honestly don't know all details of the UC program yet...I just received my acceptance to UC today.

Hi! There are actually a bunch of us currently at Frontier Bound. We are having an amazing time, and I think I speak for all of us when I say how glad I am that I have chosen this program. The faculty is amazing and so supportive--they each have an impressive resume and bring so much experience with them. I feel like I have incredible ladies from which to learn.

I was apprehensive at first about coming here and the two trips to Kentucky, but I am thrilled and it has been wonderful meeting everyone. I have an amazing group of classmates from all over the country (and even Jamaica!) and they each bring unique perspectives to the table. Having met them in person (and truly bonded over these past few days), I'm looking forward to learning with them over the next few years and the friendships that have already formed.

This school is truly an amazing place!

2blueyes,

Can you go into what kind of practice she has? I'm too in that bind of feeling the pull towards Frontier and midwifery but concerned about malpractice and time obligations. I'd still like to do women's health and was wondering if your friend does family health or just women's health. I'm assuming she did the NP program at Frontier. Is this right?
