Specialties Case Management

I was wondering if there are many of us in the club? I rarely have seen postings from DM nurses so I wanted to do a head count.
If you just post you are one that would be great!

I am still hanging in there with DM and like it alot. My caseload is higher than others mentioned and call durations are much shorter.renerian
what is your caseload? do you make outbound or have inbound calls? what type of dm are you doing? how long are your calls? do you have a set time you have to be for your call times?

We can get incoming calls. We have appointments we set up/caseload at least 110. I teach pretty much anything except anything that is a peds case/outta my comfort zone.
I am lucky I work for a very nice company. It is nice to have a job I like.

Hi,
I did CM for 2 years in DM for DTCA for a large insurance company as well. Lost the contract back to the insurance company-replaced with 6 staff with 2 nurses for over 1800 patients. One of my co-workers went to Pitts. to help open the DTCA office there as well and our office manager was in charge-M.G. Hope you are enjoying your change of jobs!

I've been doing DM for a large health insurance company for two years. We are the only in-house DM team and we do coronary artery disease. All other DM programs are contracted out to DM firms.
My case-load is about 125, I have busy days and slow days. Since I'm taking courses towards my master's, I always have my books with me, for those slow days. As long as you are keeping up, my mgr doesn't mind if you study.
I work 10 hour days, M-Th, so I have a 3 day weekend every week! This job is a MAJOR change from home care.

I live in MO and am currently looking at an insurance company that is looking to hire for Disease Management. I work in a large university hospital in OB. i also have my Asthma Educator certification. I have read all of your post and I am ready to get out of hospital nursing.
Can you tell me the plus and minus of working in this type of environment?
I am really starting to look for something different. I have read all of your post and I was just wondering if this is a good alternative.
Thanks
April

where in missouri. my job is a very positive environment but you need to be able to sit at your phone all day, something i did at my previous job. depends on the company. one company here works you to death ours expects you to be productive but is not unreasonable. check out the company, the working environment, benefits, flexibility ect.....hours

Hi. I am a Disease Management R.N. for Optum Health (Diabetes, CAD). I am a new nurse (Aug. 07) with a previous background in banking & project management. If any RNs out there are through with hands-on, I highly recommend this type of position. I love my job. FYI.
