Number of Disease Management nurses
Hi. I am a Disease Management R.N. for Optum Health (Diabetes, CAD). I am a new nurse (Aug. 07) with a previous background in banking & project management. If any RNs out there are through with hands-on, I highly recommend this type of position. I love my job. FYI.

Your Average kaplan or Saunders Scores before Passing NCLEX
Sure - I used Kaplan 2007 Edition "Strategies for the Registered Nursing Licensing Exam" . I read it once, then 1/2 way through again. I did the practice test at the end of the book twice ( 3 months inbetween). I have the Saunders Comprehensive Review for the NCLEX-RN Examination - third edition. I only went through about twenty questions and decided to focus on Kaplan. I thought the Kaplan book was very helpful and in keeping with the questions on the NCLEX. Hope this helps!

Your Average kaplan or Saunders Scores before Passing NCLEX
Hi, LoveNursing1. I scored VERY low on the Kaplan QBank ?s before I started getting repeats and getting them right - my lowest score was 20%, to give you an idea, which meant I was a bad guesser to top it all off. I took NCLEX yesterday and just found out this morning that I passed. I just kept studing. And then studied some more. I wish you all the best - sending good mojo your way!

Banner Good Sam
Hi. I have been a Nurse Extern at Good Sam for the past year and a half (just found out this a.m. that I passed my board - yippee). I chose the Rehabilitation Unit (in a seperate building diagonal to the main towers)because my sister has been an RN there for 9 years (started as a traveler) - we're both from PA. If I can throw in my two cents - Rehab has been the best. Great DON, staff is like family. They're great to work for/with. FYI for the future. Best of luck to you!

Do I really want to be a nurse?
Hi, Sassie. I got into nursing for some very practical reasons: a decent salary, flexibility, and job security. That's it. I just graduated from nursing school this past May and am about to take my state board next month. I have been a nurse extern for a little over a year. I do not regret having completed a nursing program, but I am looking at the first chance to get off "the floor." It's miserable. You're either cut out for it or you're not. I'm hoping that after I pass the board, there will be administrative opportunities available (this was my previous background). I have made attempts and received a few calls about "alternative" positions, but have found that the license is a prerequisite. Just an opinion from someone who got into it for similar reasons. I wish you all the best in your decision! Kelly
