    Hello Everyone,
I am not a nurse, but an Occupational Therapist with over 20 plus years expierence. Currently, I am working in a role where I am a senior housing and care consultant. So, while I am not working under my OT license, I still use my OT skills daily. Anyhow, my question is this. I am looking into case management. I have looked at both the National Academy of Certified Care Manager (CMC exam) and the CCM exam. I think I may be short of hours to take the CCM test this August as I have worked per diem since my kids were born...(15 years ago). But, I will have enough hours for the CMC exam. Should I just wait another 7 months when I have enough hours to qualify for the CCM exam or should I take the CMC exam? I am having a hard time knowing what the real difference is besides the requirements of taking the test. Neither organization could give me a clear answer. Thanks so much for your help!

If you do not have enough hours worked in the field of case management by the time you apply for the CCM exam, you are not eligible to take the exam in August. Thus, if you do not have the hours for the exam as of May 31st (your hours of eligibility must be complete by the time you apply and the open window to apply to sit for the August exam closes May 31st), then you will need to wait until you have the hours to apply. Good luck.

Thanks so much for sharing your experience and tips! I take the exam in a week and I have terrible test anxiety! I have read Deannas book and will start practice questions from the site you suggested. Any other tips on what areas to focus on?

Hi All, I have read all comments on this board and this they are amazing. Thank you for sharing. I will be taking exam in 4/2018. How do I know if new changes have been made or would be made to the exam. I'm planning on buying the book CCM Certification Exam Made Easy: Your guide to passing the Certified Case Management Exam SECOND EDITION, but unsure if I should wait for a 3rd edition to come out. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

The changes were already made to the exam in 2015, I think. I don't believe they will be changing it again for many years. The 2nd edition is aligned with the current CCM exam. Best of Luck

I will take this test December 2018. I bought the books CCM Secrets and CCM Certification study Guide 2018-2019. Is there any other books anyone would recommend?
My plan is to study 5 hours per week form now until I take the test.
