Hi everyone!

I recently received an offer of admission to Kwantlen's BSN Post-Baccalaureate Program in which you can get your Bachelors in Nursing in 27 months. This program is to commence in Sept 2013.

I was wondering if anyone has any feedback regarding this program. What's it like compared to the Undergraduate BSN 4-year program at Kwantlen? How is the program in general compared to other BC Nursing Programs? etc.... Any help or information is appreciated!

If you have also been accepted to the program or is thinking of applying, feel free to comment!

Hi al0a,

Oh okay, yeah I've been trying to find a job related to my degree but most of the lab/research jobs, or even just lab assistant require experience in the industry (I have very limited from school and did a term of undergrad research but that's it :x3:). So, for now just doing part-time working (ABA work for autistic kids).

P.S. Yay! We are almost at 15 posts lol, I've been waiting to get the private message option because I was going to throw out this idea and see if you, june_flower, or anyone else would like to do a casual meet up like for tea/coffee at a mall or something just to get to know one another ..I think that'd be cool even before we start the program. Just a suggestion, quite a random idea I got today while I was at my volunteer this morning. We could work out the details if anyone's interested, and do it through private message if people are worried about giving out personal info on a public forum because I would be too .

Hi onepinkdaisy!

Oh thats so cool! I would love to know more about your work with ABA :) so coffee would be great!

Do we need 15 posts each?

Hi al0a,

Hmmm, I don't know if we need 15 each... I guess we will find out if I message you and if you can reply or not :x3: haha!

When are you guys doing your Standard First Aid with CPR C? I have the 2 day course this weekend :geek:

Hi al0a,

I'm doing my Standard First Aid with CPR C on the next weekend :) are you done with your immunizations form?

I think it's a great idea to go for a coffee

Hi onepinkdaisy!

I already took my Standard First Aid and CPR C with St. John's previously :) I actually took OFA Level 2 to become the First Aid attendant at work and they said they would count that as Standard First Aid. As for the CPR C component, I took it with St.John's on June 8th :)

Where are you taking yours?

Hi june_flower!

Yes, I am 'partly' finished with my immunizations. I already handed whatever I had in :) But I still have TB screening appointment this June 18th. Pam Kubossek just told me to send the results in for the TB screening once I get them :) She said we are responsible for keeping records of immunizations/test done at a later date.

I'm taking it with Vancouver First Aid (Canadian Red Cross) this weekend, had a bit of a scare today as they moved locations and I didn't get the email. Good thing I double checked and called so I made it on time... I was super worried I would have to do it next weekend. But I got today done, then one more day tomorrow :) Next time I might just go with St. John's as they are more widely recognized I think.

al0a, I didn't know you could hand in the immunizations form partly done, did you mean you handed in all test results with the form or just the form? Anyway, I completed the form just yesterday so I'm just waiting to finish my First Aid tomorrow so I can hand both Immunizations and First Aid requirements on Monday :)

Oh and yes okay, about the meet up, how is everyone's schedule during the day/week? I mean would it be better on a weekday or weekend, since we work (or at least al0a does from what I remember you mentioned, and I do too but just part time so I'm a bit more flexible).

@ al0a: Had a question about whether they mentioned in the info session, ESN opportunities and roughly how it works, if at all available in conjunction with our program?

Oh and also is anyone else doing orientation in August? I signed up for the 28th of August (Wednesday at Langley Campus) :)

Hi onepinkdaisy!

Regarding the immunizations form, I had all the shots/ sections completed except for the TB screening test. I told the contact person that my screening appointment isn't until tomorrow and I was afraid that results might not get back in time for me to hand in the form by June 30th. She told me to just hand in whatever I had and that I could follow up and hand in the TB screening results once I have them.

In the info session, they didn't elaborate much about ESN opportunities but they did mention that students can start working as ESNs after Semester 3. They have a few students doing this at the moment. I didn't really want to ask too much about this since I felt like it was out of place as she was really focused explaining the program.

I am also signed up for the Aug 28 orientation in Langley! I cant wait :)

Yay! Awesome! I'm just waiting in line to hand in my stuff haha, pretty long line so I went here to check responses.

And thanks for answering my question about the ESN thing, totally understand... I'm sure they'll let us know more about it once the right time comes. I just get excited and want to do what I can to prepare for it :) Also a tidbit, I don't know if you guys know about the big hiring fair in March according to my supervisor at the clinic I do volunteer at, I think it's only for Fraser Health... Not sure about other Authorities.

Can't wait too! I think we can get student ID's and things like that done during orientation, right? That's what I remember reading anyway.

Oh al0a, to give ya a heads up if you're doing the TB skin test you have to come in for the results after 48ish hours or 2 days so you'll get it done before the deadline, no need to worry!
