RN Exam Eligibility after new rules

World Canada CRNE

Hey guys!

I'm new here, and I was just wondering if someone can help me out. I actually came to Canada in 2009, and initially my assessment for taking the RN exam was to expire 2014. But because of the new rules, I wasnt sure if I am still allowed to take the exam this year. The new rules would indicate that I should have completed the exam by December 2012.

I really wanted to take the exam and not have them assess me again. Is anyone in the same position or know someone who is? If so I would really really appreciate some advise on if I am allowed to do the exam or not anyone.

Thanks so so much in advance!

What you need to do is contact the college and ask them.None of us can answer your question.

Are you talking about the CNO? Are you talking about the requirement to provide evidence of nursing practice changing from 5 years to 3 years?

Those new changes should be applied to those who will be applying this year, not to those who have submitted their application years ago. Most of their assessments took 15 - 24 months, of course their evidence of prctice would probably reach its 3rd year & because of rhe changes it's now considered expired, & they now need to study for 2 years, with very costly tuition fees, it's not the applicant's fault.they've waited too long fron CNO's decision.. Especially those who already passed the CPNRE & CRNE! It's ridiculous that they still need to finish the bridging, to be able to apply for registration ! So pitiful. CNO should give some consideration, most especially to those with years of experience..

Same here. I initially thought my nursing experience will expire Oct2015. I had to take all the exams within this year, and opted for CPRNE. The sad thing is, even if you try your best to take all the exams, CNO is not doing their part. The last requirement I have for my registration is the IELTS, the tracking number that the IELTS office gave me said, it has been delivered already to CNO, but it's been 2 weeks already, and CNO is denying this. Another sad thing is, while am trying to follow up if they received my IELTS result... my police clearance expirted. That's just great, even if I completed all the exams on time, it's no use :-(

this is awful. Were you able to get your license in time, or did the conditions that you were required to meet expire? Theres a way to petition to the CNO for special consideration. They meet once a month to consider such cases from what I have been told, although I think this is a very slim chance due to the new regulations to practice. Call the CNO and see if that would help. Perhaps applying to another province can be an option for you. Most provinces still have the 5 year rule and if your an IEN you can have your education and background assessed in such provinces. This can be a possibility that you should explore
