Hi all. I just joined the forum today and I wish I did before. I just want to share that I passed the OSCE. I got the results after 3 months of waiting. Then when I got my eligibility to write the CRNE, I passed last February 2014 which I found out after 2 months! Before all these I had to wait for 2 years for CNO to make a decision.. Because of the long wait, my safe practice expired and now I dont know what to do.

I was told that I am required to go back to school. Does that passing the OSCE and the CRNE was a waste? What should I do? Kindly email me [email protected]. Please advice me too as I want to "petition" my case. Has anyone been in this situation? Is there such thing as a consultant/expert that I could go to? I need to get clarity on this asap..

what do you mean by your safe practice is expired? if you are officially RN in Ontario; now you should search for agency or employer to work.

Im not sure if you understood what I posted Alexe. I never said I got my RN license. I just said I passed the OSCE and the CRNE. However, in the process, my safe practice expired because of the long wait. Passing the CRNE does not mean you automatically get your license. Passing your CRNE is just one of the requirements to get your license. English proficiency aside, you need to be within a safe practice of 3 years. My safe practice expired a few days after my CRNE exam - before the results were in.

But I wish I could do what you said.

Each college of RN's requires a certain amount of working hours in a certain period. If you don't get this then you have to meet their requirements. Every year you pay your fees allowing you to work you have to declare that you worked x amount of hours excluding sick and vacation time. I was able to just meet these requirements when I passed my CRNE a few years ago but I had to find a full time job very quickly and get the hours in otherwise I would have had to do a re-entry course

Hi Silverdragon, thanks for the information. This is actually useful. I am originally from India then I moved to Ontario Canada. I am currently in Toronto. Where are you from? The CNO (College of Nurses of Ontario) is the regulatory body..

Hello, Sagid, just relax and take a deep breath; and believe that every thing will go fine. Passing the CRNE is the last requirement to be an officially RN in the CNO. Now if you have a deficient in your education then you must go to the school and do some theory, and apparently you have deficient since you did the OSCE. frankly; I don't know about the yearly working hours that you have to satisfied. Every applicant is a different case from the other and what apply to you may not apply to the other. But tell me how you prepared for the CRNE. Good Luck

Just called CNO just right before they closed lol It took 30 minutes of wait time.. But anyways, because my safe practice expired, I need to complete 250 hours of clinical. Afterwards, I am officially an RN :)

I passed the CRNE and the OSCE by reviewing two books. You can pm me on my email if you want [email protected]

The CRNE is FILLED WITH PSYCHOSOCIAL QUESTIONS. A lot of professional practice and health promotion questions on my exam. Anyways, pm me if you want because I am not sure if we are allowed to discuss CRNE questions here on this forum.. My post might get deleted again or something..

You CANNOT discuss specific questions from the CRNE. You agreed to that when you applied to write. It's considered a very serious breach if you do discuss specific questions, not on on this forum but ANYWHERE ANYTIME.

So CNO requires only 250 hours to get back your safe practice. I am from India too. Do they consider indian experience?
