NCLEX for IENs in Canada

World Canada CRNE

Published

hello everyone,

I am an IEN working in Canada (Ontario) as RPN in acute medical unit in a hospital. I got my eligibility to write the NCLEX finally! I am not sure on how to prepare for it and where to start from? Is it better if I work on my own or to attend a prep. course? and how early can someone register for an exam date? Are there dates available to chose from for 2018?

Thank you ;;

Did you try browsing through the topics here? There are literally DOZENS of threads asking the same thing. Maybe give some of them a read and then if you still have questions, come on back.

Thank you, I have gone through good number of posts that were great, however, I was thinking of more specific information about IENs in Ontario as we might need more intense study preparation because of differences in nursing programs.

Thank you again

The exam is exactly the same no matter where you write it. It's a computerized adaptive exam that will continue giving you new questions to answer until the algorithm is satisfied you know enough to practice. Entry to practice is actually pretty homogenous across the country and the province where you'll be practicing isn't part of the schema.

Thank you

Hi Rosey,

I'm trying to move over as an RN myself, can I ask did you apply for both your RPN and RN at the same time from NNAS? Was there a difference in the application between the RN forms required and the RPN ones? If you could give any advice I'd be so incredibly greatful! Thank you
