Before the Morning (Failed CRNE three times. what now?)

World Canada CRNE

Published

I just received a bad news. My nursing career is over. Yes, I am no longer one of you, but I feel a need to share my story. I have failed the CRNE for the third time and honestly, I don't know what is there left for me. I know things happen for a reason. sometimes, i just think that GOD is being so unfair. Throughout my nursing school, all i did was to do my best both theory and clinical. I have received praises being a "very good" Graduate Nurse. But then again, all has to end with an examination that I can't seem to pass even though I have put my thoughts and heart on preparing for it. At some point, I think of myself as a dumb individual, up for no good. If nursing was not meant for me, why did HE made it possible for me to even complete my Degree Program? I have so many questions to GOD right now. I have prayed hard for that moment of finally receiving a letter with the word "PASS" on it, but instead a phone call saying I have failed on my third attempt and had to wait for a letter containing my options.

Nursing Has always been my dream and I can't see myself pursuing other career in life. I don't think I can handle another 4 years of schooling or even the strength to even try to put my life back on track. I know that God has a reason for why I'm going through this test right now (one I consider the hardest test in my life, so far), and probably there is more to come. I have so much faith in him that in spite it all, I still look forward to that one morning of waking up from my sleep and the pain, the sadness, the sufferings are over. I know that HE works in ways unimaginable. I know that he hears my prayer and in his own time he'll grant those prayers. But for now, all I needed is some sort of encouragement from you, whoever you are reading this post right now.

I still thank GOD because I have my life, I am breathing, I can still appreciate all the good things he had created. As long as there is tomorrow, I will continue to fight a good fight!

Hey everyone, sorry this may be off topic, but I'm sure someone here would be able to help. I'm wondering if anyone here knows where the exam sites are located in BC, particularly in Surrey and Vancouver. Where were they located? I would appreciate any information that you may have. Thanks!

This is true i asked my undergrad director at a reputable university about failing CRNE 3 times and she specifically told me their are a lot of students from our school that failed 3 times and had to do an 8 month refresher program and they were then eligible for another 3 tries at writting CRNE. So for all you folks looking for hope dont give up!!!

If you do not have knowledge try to take professional help, there is an agency helping nurses

and you do not have to spend tons of money.

Are you serious

julia03? because one of my friends didn't pass the 3rd time and they told her that was it. I think you might have your information wrong.

Sometimes a 4th attempt is allowed but only after writing a letter why the deserve a 4th attempt

But Julia said there is a refresher course you can take and that is incorrect.

I don't see Julia mention refresher courses but another member did and there may be refresher courses that people can take if allowed to take a fourth time. Is nothing mentioned on provincial college of RN website?

The best way is to find out from CNO.

I called the CNO this morning, its 3 tries and that's it. There is no such thing as a refresher course and you get another try they said. Also, good luck getting a 4th try from the CNO, its almost impossible. Unless you had a hypoglycemic attack, or a heart attack, they wont give you another chance. They don't care about any other reasons unless they are medically relevant and you can also prove it with a doctor.

The CNO is not on your side when you want a 4th attempt, they will give you %0 advice on how to go forward after you failed. They just don't care. My friend had to go through all this and even with medical proof, it was a long struggle for her because the CNO will do everything in their power not to give you that 4th attempt.

Every case is different I would suggest that the person who failed should contact CNO and discuss the case and ask them if there is a possibility of fourth attempt in future.

From what I heard, if you have a legitimate reason, they will let you write the exam the fourth time. I'm not too sure but this is what I heard from a girl that took a prep course with me. It was her third time writing it.

Well, not to be rude or anything and no way do i mean to offend anyone but just like what someone said, if you fail three times, maybe you should really think about your study strategies/method and whether you are ready or not. Even with a fourth attempt, who knows if it'll work to your advantage. If you look at the website, i think it says you are only allowed three attempts so I wouldn't be surprised if they denied you a fourth attempt. Its only fair.

For those who failed it, I really think it's your study method or how you looked at the questions. If you are allowed a fourth attempt, take it to a prep course instructor or even your nursing instructor and see what you can do about it. Good luck
