VA Palo Alto New Graduate Program 2012

U.S.A. California

Published

Hi all! I just applied to the VA's new graduate program in Palo Alto (The due date was January 26, 2012). I was hoping those that applied could keep in tabs and update others when news is received. Good luck to everyone!

I applied as well! Good luck!

i applied too. good luck!

what were your top two choices?

just curious.

Wow, I don't even remember specifying...but I did mention geriatrics in my cover letter.

Specializes in Medical-Surgical, Telemetry, Geriatrics.

i was looking at some of the previous PAVA forums and it seems like applicants were starting to receive calls for interviews about a month after the deadline. so for us i guess it'll be about late february. good luck to all!

Yeah, that does seem like the case. I'm hoping they'll get a move on things earlier. I live in the Bay Area, California, and just got a job offer at a behavioral health center in North Dakota that would begin March 2. I don't know if the move would be worth it, and I REALLY want the VA...

I believe I picked tele, but I have rehab experience as well! I always waver on my top 2 choices...

I know someone that already got contacted through email stating notice of results. My friend emailed it to me and wanted to share for those of you waiting, it stated, "You got qualified for the position however you were not among the most highly qualified candidates, therefore you will not be referred to the selecting officials at this time" they continued saying if more candidates are needed we will re-evaluate your application after 90 days. WTH!?! She told me I guess it's onto the next application. Good luck to everyone that

applied.

thank you so much for the update

Hello

I just heard that those who do not have a BSN will not be qualified unless they have extensive experience. I am an ADN, have 1 year experience as a CNA, 4 years as an LVN @ the VA....hope things work out this year. I wish you all the best of luck.

wow - i will keep a look out in my email. thank you so much for this info!

So I hear they are already contacting people for interviews.

But I am curious, what is their hiring process?

phone interview>>panel/1-1 interview>>possible job?

or do they not do phone interviews??

Anyone ever had a phone interview or panel interview at the VA? How was it?
