Saw this for a NICU thread and thought I should follow suit b/c it was a good idea. I hope all of us regular allnurses.com PICU interviewees get hired! Good luck everybody

I live close to LA but went to nursing school in San Diego. You can try The Grove and do some shopping while you wait. There's also a farmer's market near there :-)

What nursing school did you go to?! I went to SDSU.

Same! Did u graduate this past December?!

I'm from the LA area and went to school in LA (yesterday was my last day of school yay!)....There is a parking garage called Broxton ave public parking in Westwood that is free parking for 2 hours and its RIGHT by the hospital. they have tons of places like BJ's or Diddy Reise right there for lunch and stuff. You could always park at Broxton...get a cookie from diddy reise and go to your interview and not have to worry about the HR shuttle.

I did! I wasn't part of your original cohort though. How funny...and I believe your interview is right before mine!

Thank you! And congrats on finishing school!! Let me know if you have any NCLEX questions...I'm helping some of my friends prepare for it.

Congrats jesusgal1023!!! :yeah: so exciting. good luck on NCLEX! passing it is an even better feeling, which I'm sure you will with no problem! and thank you for letting us know about the parking. I didn't want to have to take the shuttle.

boobear0306- that is funny! our graduating class wasn't that big so I'm sure I'll recognize you if I see you. maybe I'll even run into you on friday lol.

what is everyone doing to prepare for the interview? do you think there will be clinical questions? I am so hoping it will be informal too...

I don't know if this helps, but my last name starts with a W so I was towards the end of the pinning ceremony and I was holding my daughter on stage...pinned by my dad. Oh, and she was running around the hallway when we were lined up out there. I don't expect you to remember, but figured I'd throw it out there. I'm sure we will run into each other at the interview. Speaking of the interview, I'm just reviewing some ICU notes. I have jury duty all day Thursday so I'm sure I'll be up late that night getting things in order and having the jitters!!

I'm really hoping that they aren't going to ask specific ICU questions for the interview. It seems like we will be under too much stress to be able to recall facts...maybe they will ask more of those behavioral questions. Did they ask you guys how you would be able to handle a patient dying during your first interview? They asked me that....straight to the point!

Nope...wasn't asked that, but I was interviewed on the 24th by the CNS so maybe she has a different interviewing style. I was asked what my most complicated pt was like. In my ICU rotation I had a lot of patients who died and I told her that so I guess she didn't have to ask. I could see them asking questions regarding transplants since they do a lot of those procedures...so know S/S of infection and/or rejection. Also there's the risk of internal bleeding so I would know what to look for regarding that topic (change in BP, oxygenation, etc). I still have to look over that stuff. Plus it's good to remember to utilize help on the floor: calling on a more experienced nurse, a resource nurse, the charge nurse, rapid response team, etc. If a monitor is alarming what is the first thing you would do? That kind of stuff.

wishing everyone luck on their second interviews tomorrow :-)

I hope everyone's interview went well.....I guess now we play the waiting game :)

Did anyone ask when we would find out the results of the second interviews?
