Compared to last year's information, does anyone recall how many applicants was received last time? I wanted to say over 1,800?

Does anyone recall how many job openings were given to their internals? I seem to remember that a lot of internals were given priority.

flee43 when did you submit your application? What did you put as your choices? I submitted mine at 10:30 on Monday and chose the NICU as my top choice. I am just wondering if there is a reason some people got the assessment and others didn't.

Hi @RstarN! I turned it in not too long after the position got posted at midnight and my top choice was Medical ICU. I'm not really sure what happened but it sounds like this has also happened to other applicants before us. But on the older threads, it sounds like even though some didn't get the assessment right away, it didn't exclude them as an candidate. It sounds like UCLA was expecting this to happen from the get-go and made it a point to put out there that they would send out assessment forms later so it could just be a glitch in their system that they haven't been able to fix. I know that my internet connection also died mid-upload of my documents so that might have been it too? Hmm. I was still able to re-upload my documents later but still got no assessment. But I do have to agree with others. They should just have one streamlined function where either everyone gets the assessment with the application or everyone gets emailed a link or something. Despite it though, I'm sure it will all work out!

does anyone know about how many they are accepting? or how many externals?? im all the way from houston :)

I remember they said 10 get accepted into each ICU but I can't remember how many the other units take. I guess how many externals they accept depends on how many internals apply.

One of my friends got into the program that started in Feb. She said all the ICUs and Pediatrics units accepted 15 new grads each, and ER took 3. She said there were about 3000 applicants!

Holy. Crap. That is SO many people! I literally can't imagine a hospital of that size. I've only done clinicals in small and rural hospitals!

Haha, nope. I'm near sac. I went to school at Chico State, so I went to rural hospitals from all the way up to Redding down to Yuba City. I really enjoyed the rural hospitals though, but I do wish I knew what it was like to work in a giant hospital. I visited a hospital in SF a couple weeks ago... 12 stories tall!!! But I guess in SF the only way you can build is up, haha.

Hello everyone!

I applied for CTICU.

My friend was accepted into one of the ICUs at ucla. She told me they accepted a total of 110+ applicants out of 3000+ for santa monica and ronald reagan units. I only know the data for ICUs. For ICUs, there were 6 neuro ICU, 6+ CTICU, and 1 MICU accepted. Also the MICU is really overstaffed so they will probably not gonna even interview for the summer but who knows. CTICU is very understaffed. Interesting many of those who got accepted were out of state. My friend emphasized that you need to show your personality because that's what they're looking for. Good luck to all!

Here's the application process:

1) Assessment + recommendation letters

2) Interview with the Unit director

3) Call back interview with CNS/unit director and tour the unit

4) Pray that they will call you with good news!

Did anyone get an email yet if they weren't able to do the Assessment? I also didn't get a prompt or link for the Assessment. I guess were supposed to get an email so we can do the Assessment, but I haven't gotten it yet.

thank you so much nursed104! that is VERY helpful!! i applied to UCLA and CHLA and it sounds like UCLA has a better chance of getting in. I bet thats why so many people apply. Thats crazy!! 3000?? whoaa. fingers crossed!
