Can someone tell about how much nurses from registry make? Are there any benefits? I have 1 year experience in ICU.

Registry in my area pays about $50 an hour, but there's no benefits.

where is your area? are they accepting nurses with no experience?

You need one to two years of US experience.

You also need to get petitioned first as well.

A am asking because I would like to help my friend who would like to move from NY to LA,CA. I would like to refer him to any hospitals as long as there are good feedbacks. he has no experience. If I cant help him maybe he can apply in registry nursing. ;)

Working agency nursing is to fill in for a shift when the facility is short, you must have experience, you do not get any orientation. Perhaps to a computer or where things are, but not to how things are done in the US.

You must have US work experience to work as an agency nurse.

You can have your friend contact me on the International Forum, and we can help him directly from there. It is always hard to help someone thru another person. Especially when it comes to international nurses. I am willing to thelp, but it must be done by your friend.

Some registeries are cutting back on the experience requirements to six months since they're so short on nurses. But, you still need to get that experience first.

For a foreign grad, no one should consider with less than one year of training. It is very different working overseas.

The more reputable agencies still want the one year, at least. They know that when they cut corners, they get burnt as well.

is the experience from the foreign country counted as an experience in US?

Hi,

If you read her post again, the experience has to be in the U.S. since, as she said, nursing is very different in the U.S. than in other countries.
