Question for Glendale Community College's Weekend/Evening students

U.S.A. California

Published

Hi I just got admitted to Glendale Community College's Spring 2010 ADN program & was hoping to find current "Weekend/Evening" students that can help me out. My question is, how do the hours work? For example, do you have classes Monday-Friday evenings & clinicals on the weekends? I'm just curious to know how the 'scheduling' is.

Hey!! I was just accepted as well to GCC weekend/evening schedule as well for the same semester!! How cool! I was soo excited to have been accepted!

To answer your question, I am sure if you call them at he Health Science/Nursing department they would be glad to explain it in detail. Don't forget we have to turn in the blue paper (statement of intent) by Monday. Congrats!!!

Hey bookwormjoy!

Congrats to you too! :) I'm so excited that I'm FINALLY meeting some Evening/Weekend-ers on here! Everyone else I'd spoken to had gotten into the Standard program. Just turned in my intent form on Monday. Have you turned yours in yet? I look forward to taking classes w/ you & meeting in person!

P.S. I spoke w/ people at the nursing department when I turned my form in. They said that our classes will be held weekdays after 4pm. Clinicals are usually all day Saturday.

I have turned mine in last week, but I will be doing the Live Scan this coming Wednesday..OMG I am sooo excited...and SCARED...I cannot wait to meet you, too!!

do you have to take chemistry to get into that school? & if so what kind? I have Anatomy, phys, & micro done & all the GE stuff. anything else for prereq? How many spots for the weekend option?

Hey BajaLeslie! General Chemistry is the pre-req course you need before you can take Anatomy or Micro. Since you have those courses done, I'm going to assume that you've already taken a general chem class - so you should be good. I read somewhere that 20 students got accepted into the Spring'10 Evening/Weekend class.

Congrats to you all on getting in... I just finished w/ prereqs and am looking to apply here. Can you give me more info on your schedule (when/if you know?) I was going to apply for Scottsdale's Accelerated programs since I am a SHC employee, but haven't heard good things about instructors, etc. MAIN concern though is I have 3 little ones, expecting #4 in 3/2010, and am trying to see which program logistically will have me home as much as possible, doing as much of my away-from-home stuff on weekends, when hubby is home! Childcare is going to be a major concern! Thought Fri-Sat sounded good, but do you end up in labs, etc during the weekdays anyway? Scottsdale is 2-4 days a week w/ classroom & clinicals. Looked into Rio's online (which is where I did all prereq's) but you do all classroom online and then have 3 - 12hr shifts/ week of clinicals! If I'm going to be gone 3 days a week might as well do Scottsdale anyway... Any info appreciated!

Hi RickiP! Just wanted to clarify: are you looking to apply for GCC in California, or GCC in Arizona?

Hey Guys!! Just wanted to let you know that I won't be going to attend the program at GCC..I was accepted to Pasadena City College and will be going there instead...I am so happy! I was dreading the weekend/evening program as I have a young child..and to be honest I didn't like that GCC parking was an issue and that the walk to class felt more like a hike...CONGRATS to all of us who got into a program...we are all truly blessed!! Good luck to all!!
