Pre-nursing at Saddleback College

U.S.A. California

Published

Hey everyone! :)

I am a second year at a community college in Orange County, and I decided to become a nurse! This is my third semester, and I am still unable to get into any biology and chemistry classes, so I abandoned my dream to apply to UCI or UCLA's nursing program because it's going to take forever for me to finish my pre-requisites.

So I decided to apply to all the AA nursing programs in so-cal, yup! But I'm really, really interested in Saddleback's program. So, if any of you are like me - newly interested in nursing and JUUUUST starting to take the appropriate courses, reply here!

Sadly, I have not taken anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, or ANYTHING. :( It's depressing. I know. I'm really disappointed in myself for not thinking about AA programs sooner.

Aside from GEs, these are the main classes I have taken so far:

Sociology (A), Psychology (A), Speech and Communications (A), Statistics (B), English 100 (B), and English 101H (B)

YEAH :( I have an overall GPA of 3.75 and I have been volunteering at a hospital.

I was calculating how many points I can get, and it's in the high 60s, but I want at LEAST in the 70s!

Yeah, I have poor self-esteem as you can see, ahaha. I don't know if I can make it anywhere. mhm mhm, okay! Post away :)

3.75 Gpa is good, but what REALLY (i mean absolutely matters) matters is the Nursing Pre-req GPA.. get A's and B's in that..

Also if you have time take Pharmacology, Lifecycles 1 and 2 (those get you extra points)

See if you can get experience as an EMT or LVN those will also get you a ton of extra points

Do all of the above and your garunteed into the Saddleback Nursing Program!!

since you have alot of your General ed done once you finish your Pre-req Nursing classes (chem,A&P, micro) you should be able to apply to Cal State Nursing programs (which is a better choice)

but the main thing is getting Good grades in your nursing pre-reqs! so absolutely do awesome in those

I couldnt get into the Saddleback nursing program because my GPA pre-req was too low (2.69) i got 2 B's and one C so that really killed me

Saddleback has a good nursing program. Ditto what MusicEMT said. Make sure your grades are beyond stellar in the nursing prereqs.

Good luck!

Hieveryone..,im starting to take my!pre reqs classes...ima start on tuesday!spring 2013 excited..any tips from anyone!?
