Pay question re: 12 hour shifts at Cedar's

U.S.A. California

Published

If base pay is 30/hr...how does it work out if you are doing a 12 hour shift? Are the 1st 8 hours @ 30/hr and the last 4 hours at 45/hr? (plus shift diffs of course.)

Thank you to anyone that can help!!!

That should be what you have stated, but look at your contract. It should state if they have a blended rate or not the 12 hour people.

It is best never to assume and always ask the HR dept there for specific questions.

Best of luck to you.

Calculating can be so confusing. I still get confused by it.

I refer to this:

CA Dept. of industrial Relations

Maybe copy this and bring it into Cedar's to have them explain it.

PS I don't know how long you have been at Cedars, but about 4 yrs ago they got in a lot of trouble for altering the electronic time cards of Nurses.

I would always keep a journal of when you clock in and out. That way you will be sure to get the OT you are legally entitled to.
