nursing waiting period

U.S.A. California

Hello I just need advise on students who have applied to the nursing programs and are currently waiting. I have applied and got rejected from Glendale Community College. I made the list but was not selected from the lottery. I am very nervous and worried that my name might not get picked from the other colleges that i applied 2 any advise on what I should do if I don't get accepted I am very worried.

All I can say, is just keep trying... :D

I applied at Mt.Sac, Chaffey and Rio Hondo this semester. I was going to apply to PCC, Cerritos, Citrus and a couple of CSU.However, I just got accepted into Rio Hondo and start this Spring. I also thought that I would have to wait a long time. Mt. Sac told me that I was looking at a 2 year wait because their program is based on Lottery. My best advice is to apply at as many colleges in your area as you can. Another thing you should do is apply at Colleges that go based on other things besides lottery. I got into Rio Hondo because they base their program entrance on a point system that starts with highest GPA's, degrees earned, experience, volunteer work etc. Don't get discouraged. Be realistic about how long you might have to wait, but try to stay optimistic too. You have worked very hard to get to this point. You did your part. Just put in as many applications as you can and you will be in soon.

what did chaffey tell you? me and a friend applied there in early october and got acceptance letters last week ;p he took the offer and i didnt its a 40 minute drive.... im starting at valley next year

I applied late October, but I don't think that makes a difference. I was not told anything really. I was just told I had a good chance but they only accept 40 students and I might not receive anything until December, but I guess I will not be receiving anything if you both already did lol. I was told they would send out " sorry to inform you letters", but I have not gotten one of those yet. They also said I would have to apply again if I was not accepted to keep my file current. Chaffey is also about 45 minutes away from me. I never planned to apply to Chaffey because of the distance, but I thought I can't be picky at this point and it would be a privilege to be accepted anywhere. Chaffey has a nice campus and a good program, but I am glad Rio Hondo accepted me because it is only 15 min away. However, even though I feel overjoyed about being accepted into a program, a little part of me is sad about not being able to get into Mt.SAC. Mt.SAC is based on lottery , so everyone has the same chance as long as you meet their requirements. No one has and edge over anyone else there. Their program is really big too, but they told me they get about 300 applicants and since they basically allow everyone in, everyone gets added.

That is great that you go into two schools. I really liked visiting the forum and reading about others getting into more than one program. It helped keep me positive about my own chances of getting in soon.

Where is valley located?

I just called Chaffey (Rancho campus) and the person I spoke with in the Health Science department told me that letters have not been mailed yet for the RN program. She said letters will not be ready to be mailed until late November. She told me both acceptance and rejection letters will be mailed out on the same week. What program did you apply for? I think they have different ones, LVN, CNA and ADN.

thank you so much for your advises i also applied to mount st marys college and i got invited to the interview today does anyone know what kind of questions they ask so I can kind of prepare myself for it

Congratulations! Mount St. Mary's has a great program. Hopefully someone will chime in and help you out. Perhaps a new thread would help best.
