This would be non acute care. I am referring to LTC, skilled, etc. In CA I have seen different facilities in last few weeks going through staffing changes, crunching : less nurses, heavier patient loads. It is as though some change has occurred and just trying to find out what that may be?

Similar in home health too, it seems. There just isn't much work lately, or so they tell you. I can't believe that one employer has had nothing for me in 14 months. I've asked them if there was something wrong, and they insist it isn't me, they just don't have work. That is a long time to go without new business, if you ask me.

It might have something to do with the slow reimbursement times for Medicare and Medicaid, coupled with lower reimbursement rates. This is just a wild guess, although I know that nursing homes, SNFs, and home health agencies depend on Medicare and Medicaid.
