Need Advice with Getting California RN License

U.S.A. California

Published

I will be a new grade in June. I live in Oregon state but I am moving to California. I was wondering what is the best/fastest way of obtaining CA RN license. Do I need to take NCLEX in CA? Do I apply to CA BON before/after NCLEX? How long does it take? Can I do something now to speed up the process?

I really don't know much about this and any advice will be highly appreciated.

JustBeachyNurse thnks for our reply....but if ssn is mandatory how can an international candidate apply to CA BRN?

You cannot until you obtain a valid work visa or permanent resident status. It's a catch 22 since you cannot get a visa without a license. But CA is over saturated with local nurses ( new grad. & experienced) and there is limited need for nurses not already credentialed in CA.

The simple answer is you can't apply. There is no alternative until you have a valid for work SSN.

so is der any alternative solution for dis because im currently on H4 visa for which ssn is not issued?

No. If you are on H4 you are not eligible to work so what is the purpose in paying all the fees associated with getting an RN license. Do you have a particular goal in mind? A job offer?
