Has anyone had any luck with applying at National University for their nursing program? I applied back in Oct 06 and have been waiting to hear from them. They are supposed to notify in 3 months. I have called and called and written email upon emails with no response really. :banghead: Please, if anyone has applied and received some sort of letter, I would greatly appreciate your reply.

Thanks

I haven't heard of anyone getting into the nursing program yet but I have a friend that is doing pre reqs there. She absolutely hated her ap2 class, she moved campuses for micro. Are you a student there already or had you just applied to it as a nursing student? I'll ask my friend what she has heard as far as time lines.

Hey!! Thanks for the response. I am currently taking classes at City College. I only applied for the nursing program at National. is your friend planning on going to nursing school there?

I am not sure or I should say she isn't sure yet, she will probably apply at the CC I go to (thats where we met) and also to national, national is very expensive compared to the CC here. Plus the CC is much closer to us, but they take so few canidates it will depend on her grades, she has done very well so far but she still needs Micro which she is taking starting May.

Catzy,

Which CC do you go to where grades matter? I would love to find that school close by!! I have pretty much decided that I will just go ahead and apply to SDSU for their Spring program. I have the grades for it, just need to do my volunteer work. Thanks for all your replies

Mt SanJacinto is strictly GPA

Palomar has a wait list

I am pretty sure Riverside community also does GPA and College of the desert, not sure where you are if your in San Diego those schools will probably be too far. How does City college take applicants?

City College is a waitlist. GPA plays no part in selection at all, which I find pretty irritating! Anyway, yeah those colleges are too far for me to travel to.

Thats a bummer, but look around maybe you can find a CC near by that goes by GPA. I am on the waitlist at palomar just incase but I really don't want to start nursing school in 3 years I am 39.

navyvetRNdreams,

have you heard from National yet? You probably already got a response because I also applied back in Nov 06 and I didn't get my response letter until late April. If you still haven't heard anything keep calling the admission office and leave voicemails.

Just an update for all who read this post......I actually finally got an acceptance letter about a week ago. Doesnt start me until the January class though. I am also applying to SDSU and am hoping I can just get into that program now. It is a whole lot cheaper.

Hi, Did you need to take the ILR class before you applied there? I will be completing the last of the sciences by April 08, but I have yet to take the ILR class. How long did it take til they accepted you, and if you dont mind my asking, what was your GPA? My admissions rep says the average applicant who is accepted as of July has a cummulative 3.3, all prereqs complete, and several letters of rec. Do you feel this is accurate? Also, I am concerned about the length of time they take to decide whether or not to admit you. My rep said it is about 6-8 months now to hear back, and that if you get denied, the wait is 1 YEAR from the date of the DENIAL date to reapply, NOT the initial app date. Seems like quite a few hoops to jump through, and for this reason, I am hoping to get into SDSU's RN program, as I am already an undergraduate student there. We'll see. Congrats on your admission, any advice you have to offer is greatly appreciated!!

Hi! I applied and I feel your pain. :selfbonk: I almost went NUTS! It is so worth it,though. I applied back in 2006 for the BSN program, I was accepted, and can you believe that I actually thought that I had to come up with the money to attend? I was straight from New Orleans and didn't understand how things ran. I sat out and ended up recieving another invitation to June's 2007 orientation. Now, when I left N.O, I was accepted into an ASN program. I need 2 classes, Microbio and the Lab, and I will attend the October cohort. I believe that when you start nursing classes when all of your pre-reqs are done or close to it.

National is a private school, so they do things a bit different. Different but ACCREDITED. Lots of nurses went through there. I was told by my counselor that hospitals like National's students because we finish the required classes before other schools and you are more likely to get a job as a nurse before you graduate:bowingpur. Please get a private loan, if you need to 'cuz the classes are intense and working may not do it; you gotta eat. I hope this helps.
