I think everything needs to be in but your TEAS exam scores. I believe after you apply they give you the date and time for your TEAS and essay. Hope that helps!

Hey Jake,

Best of luck to you! The deadline for the July program has already passed though, it closed on 1/15.....

I haven't been scheduled for the TEAS or essay yet....have you taken either? If so, how has it? I am really nervous for the TEAS!!!!

You do not need the TEAS before you apply, but you need all transcripts and pre-reqs done. You also need to apply to NU before and have your transcripts evaluated which can take 4-6 weeks. The deadline for the July 2012 program has already passed though, they closed it on 1/15....I hope this helps!

I am not sure...I am just thinking that first week in July? But 4th of July is that week so maybe the second week?? I am just focused on the TEAS and essay for right now!!! Ugh! have they sent you the date for you to take those yet???

.......at least 1/15 was the deadline for San Diego.......

Hi rleetch,

Ah, I must have gotten confused. You are right. If I don't make it in to the April cohort I can still reapply and re-take the TEAS (I'm thinking not much notice will be given) :) before the April deadline.

I did take the TEAS V and the proctored essay; I don't have anything to compare the TEAS to since I didn't take any of the previous versions, but from what everyone is saying, the TEAS V was a LOT tougher than TEAS IV. I know of people who took version 4 and scored a B+ average and then took version 5 and scored a D+ average (that being said, I scored a 70.7%, something I'm not too proud of).:uhoh3:

You will definitely want to study up on Life and Earth sciences (both kicked my butt), know the basics of biology (be familiar with the stages in mitosis and meiosis, differences between prokaryotes and eukaryotes), brush up on your roman numerals (thankfully there were only 2 problems but I was stumped), know DNA and mRNA combination ('ATCG'), and work especially hard on studying the parts of speech (the stuff you learned way back in elementary school). I consider myself a decent writer but this part was something I was NOT prepared for and I'm kicking myself now for being too cocky going into the exam. :banghead: The math covers basic algebra, a tiny amount of geometry, and fractions/ decimals/percentages. I still need to get the ATI study guide but I plan to purchase it soon (they have self tests that are similar to the TEAS tests that you can practice with)

The essay question changes with each test date, so the only advice I can give you is to not give some run-of-the-mill answer. I know one of the nursing instructors at the RB campus and she said the best advice she can give me was to "Answer the prompt." I guess they read 150-200 essays with each application period and they see so many off-topic papers that don't answer what the prompt is asking of the writer. You only have 1 hour and they ask that you not exceed 2 pages. It's intense so I recommend you brainstorm before you start writing.

Anyway, I wish you luck too!

Wow, thanks for the heads up!! So helpful. I ordered my ATI Study Book last week and am waiting for it to arrive so I can begin studying. And I haven't received any info about the test date or essay date.

Thank you for the info!

I've been studying the ATI manual (version V) for a little bit now...good to know about the roman numerals.....they appeared in the study guide and I am having such a hard time with them!!! I am completely nervous about the TEAS! But hopefully I'll do ok....
