What was your GPA and test score if you don't mine me asking because I would like to apply to about 8 schools around this area too hopefully I get in

I have a 3.8 GPA but I have not taken the TEAs test yet. For Harbor your GPA doesnt matter because its a random lottery. I also applied to El Camino which picks based on a point system that includes your GPA

    Hey everyone!

So I'm currently at El Camino college, but was already shot down for their Nursing program because of my mediocre Science GPA a 2.0 and they require a 2.5. I know that Harbor wants a 2.5 but they go with lottery. I'm re-taking both my Anatomy and Physiology, but they say that they don't take repeats of Sciences, even if you receive a higher grade. I'm so stuck. I really want to be a nurse, but I feel like my GPA is detering me from any sort of program. My complete last resort is private school, and just go for my BSN, but yeah. I'm not sure what to do.

Los Angeles City College accepts a core science of 2.0 with an overall GPA of 2.5. Both Glendale Community College and Pasadena Community College use the Chancellor's formula to evaluate applicants. Though a retake of a class counts against you, they will still look at the retake grade. I've heard it's pretty easy to get into LA Trade Tech's program (not sure how true that is). They do require a 2.5 in the sciences but call them to find out if they will take retake grades. Those are just some of the programs I know off the top of my head. They're kind of far from the Harbor area but those are options. Look at the BRN's website for their full list of accredited programs and start going through the ones you can realistically attend to find out what you are eligible for. A BSN is great, of course, but in all honesty, I would not throw 100k+ towards a BSN at a private school (and that's how much they're going for if you shop around). If it's your last resort, then so be it but at this point you still have options. Retake your sciences, shoot for A's and look at programs that will accept or at least average the two grades.

    Good luck!
