Hey everyone,

I accepted my first travel position to the NICU in Palm Springs at Desert Regional Medical Center. Whats the hospital like? How about the area? is it safe? Do you ever see any famous people haha.

Let me know anything you know about the area

Hi Jackie,

I worked at DRMC for a year as a CNA on 4 East, Skilled Nursing/Rehab. I now work at Eisenhower in Rancho Mirage, but hope to return to DRMC as soon as I pass boards (LVN). I worked there in 2004, and I liked it. I don't know what may have changed since, but it is a busy place, being the only trauma center in the area and serving many surrounding areas.

Palm Springs is generally a safe area. I recall there being cars broken into in the lots during night shift, but I guess that is an opportunistic thing. Avoid North Palm Springs as far housing. There are several nice apartment complexes within walking distance.

I love the Coachella Valley. There is so much to do and the weather is fantastic this time of year. Be sure to check out the street fair on Thursday nights, the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, all the casinos and their entertainment, as well as the shopping and restaurants. It really is just a beautiful area.

The NICU has an excellent reputation and is a pretty busy place as DRMC is the most popular hospital to give birth at locally (I personally had both my kids there.)

Hi Jackie, saw you'd accepted a position at Desert Regional and wanted to see what you thought about it. I'm supposed to interview for a position there in the nicu (also a traveler, this will be my second assignment) and wanted to see if you liked it. We're about the same age and experience level so any feedback you have would be especially helpful. Hope it's going well for you! :-)

I work with medical solutions. I'm looking to start around the same time so I guess we'll find out together! My current position (in Texas) is over just before Christmas so I can see my family for the holidays too. I wanted to spend most of the winter somewhere warm without too many mosquitoes (I'm from Louisiana and I'm so over being eaten alive lol). Was trying for somewhere closer to the beach but Palm Springs doesn't sound too bad!
