Grossmont Nursing

I am starting my first semester with Grossmont and working on my prerequisites. Wondering if anyone went here and which sequence in classes they took. Should I do the Human Anatomy, Human Physiology, Human Physiology lab. Or should I go the Anatomy and Physiology I, Anatomy and Physiology II, and Paramedical microbiology. Any help with getting into the program is greatly appreciated.

Hi there! I went to Grossmont/Cuyamaca. I highly recommend taking Anatomy, then the Physiology with the lab the same semester. The physiology lab will make sense when you take it along with lecture. Take Microbiology either before or after, either way is fine. I do not recommend the combined A&P I and A&P II classes.

You dont recommend it because its harder to pass? I am just trying to figure out the fastest way to get these science courses done but with good grades. I only have a limited time to finish school because my husband is military. I olny have science left.

I have been at Grossmont/Cuyamaca for 3 years and just finished my sciences. I took Anatomy, Physio and then Micro (this is the sequence that is recommended by the teachers at Cuyamaca). This sequence is helpful because each class does touch on the class before. I did not take more than one science per semester, as to assure a good grade. I did have other classes, though. I am taking the Teas V next week and I am so nervous because the practice tests have been very difficult. I am hoping to apply to the nursing program this month for the upcoming Spring semester.

I am hoping to get in the anatomy class this semester at grossmont but the one I am wait listed is human anatomy and physiology 1. Then 2 next semester. It's together not separate. You took them separate?

I took them separate. I took Anatomy first at Cuyamaca, then physio at Grossmont the next semester. I haven't really heard any differences between taking them separate or together. Anatomy is mostly memorization of the body parts and Physio is knowing how the parts/body works.

hi! im scheduled to take the teas test in a month from now and i was wondering if there was anything in particular that really helped you with studying for it. im so nervous! so any advice would be gladly welcomed!

I would definitely get the teas test package from ATI testing. It is made by the makers of the test and the on-line practice tests are just like the real test, so being familiar with the format is really helpful. The book has all the info you need to know, but the information is really broad! I was very overwhelmed by the amount of info. I would get started studying it as soon as possible. There is a great post on this forum by rainbowvahmet that goes over everything you need know on the exam. I studied everyday for two weeks about 2-3 hrs per day and scored a 83.4%. Not too bad, but if I had studied longer, I could have done better. Take the online tests and see where you need to concentrate your studying, and then go from there. There are also practice tests in the back of the book. Good Luck! :)

thanx!!! i'll definitely do that!
