Getting job with ADN in California

U.S.A. California

Does anyone know if it's possible/have any experience with landing a nursing job with an ADN in California?

I'm a Bay Area native and I would really like to stay in California during my schooling and career (unless I HAVE to move out of state in order to get into a BSN program). I'm currently working as a CNA, so I'm hoping that my experience in the medical field will help me in any way.

I have heard that it is somewhat easy to get hired with an ADN in a physician's office, or in a children's hospital. However, I've heard from everyone that it's near impossible to get a job at a regular hospital. Does anyone know this to be true, or know of other options for an ADN?

I appreciate any input. If anyone has any advice on other ways to get myself out there and get ahead, I would highly appreciate that as well.

No idea where you have heard this. If you are looking to get into big-named hospitals or magnet hospitals, then this is probably true in regards to having a BSN. Anywhere else (which there are plenty of "regular" hospitals), you should have no problem.

I was able to get into one of the larger healthcare organizations (in my area, anyway) with an ADN. But I also had ANCC certification by the first day I hit the floor.

I couldn't get into the Magnet facility of the organization without the BSN though.

Yes, every hospital hires ADN nurses no problem in my area of Cali. In fact, there are more ADN nurses than BSN nurses. I have a few ADN nurses in my family and they all got hired very quickly and easily.
