For those that got into a CSU BSN nursing program!

Can I please ask which CSU do you plan to go? I also have the same question so I will be subscribing to this thread.

I am currently attending CSU Chico so I definitely will be applying to the nursing program here. I have also been looking into other programs at Sac State, LA State, Stanislaus State, San Marcos State, Channel Islands State and SF State. But most programs accept only fall admits so I'm only planning on applying to Chico and Channel Islands for spring 2015. What about you?

The one I attend lets in veterans as long as they qualify, so my GPA is irrelevant, but my TEAS was 96%.

I wonder if you know my cousin, who is pre-nursing at Chico! :)

Most programs seem to take about the top 10% of applicants, from what I've seen (I applied to 10 myself). But the criteria vary (which I'm sure you already know). I know Sonoma State and CSULB, at least, have 2 year BSN programs, which is nice.

Wow you didn't so amazing on your TEAS! Do you have any tips for taking that test? I'm really hoping to score at least a 90.

I'll be applying for fall 2015 at CSU long beach. Its really impacted though. Their TEAS avg was about 87% and avg gpa is 3.8 for 2013.

Yea I heard Long Beach is one of the most impacted one of the CSU programs.

What I can suggest is do everything! They have a criteria for applicants. I think it is on a 10 point scale and multiple factors can be met.

For example

If you get through the cut rate for TEAS, you get 2 points

Doing well on your bio and chem prereqs will give you 4

The Math section at TEAS also has a cut rate and will give you 2 points.

I cant remember every criteria on the list, but I hope you get the idea.

This is for long beach though, try to research for the csu of your choice

For the TEAS, get the TEAV V study Manual from ATI. It's written in the same form as the exam, which is nice, because then you get familiar with it. I read the book cover to cover, and marked the pages that I needed to review with Post-it tabs. Then I went back and reviewed only that material, and removed the tabs as I got stuff down. Saved me from wasting time on stuff I already knew, but I was at least exposed to everything in the book once.

The TEAS forum might be helpful as well.

In the meantime, for main focus needs to be your GPA- keep it as high as humanly possible. Don't overload yourself with courses so that you can do what you need to in order to get the As required.

I am starting my 6th and final semester of NS at CSU Stanislaus on Monday. When I was admitted back in Fall 2011, my stats were: Overall GPA 3.89, Non-Science GPA 3.5, Science GPA 4.0, TEAS score 91%. Good luck getting into a CSU nursing program.
