Cypress College Point System for ADN acceptance

U.S.A. California

I'm trying to find out how Cypress College grades their candidates for their ADN program. If I have taken the general ed classes and passes with a B or better and have an A in Anatomy, Micro, and Physiology, then am I an automatic shoe-in? I understand there's 25 points possible, but how is it broken down? Do I have to take the classes at Cypress for a better score?

I just graduated from Cypress College. When I applied, I had a B in micro and A's in anatomy/physiology. = 22 points. Didn't you go to the application orientation? They usually break down the scoring system for you. If you didn't go, give the health science dept a call and they will break down for you. But if you have A's in all the prereq's and did all your gen. edu. classes, you shouldn't have a problem getting in. Good luck! Cypress College has an awesome program and most of my class has passed the boards with 75 questions only, including me!

Thanks so much for the detail. That really sets my heart at ease. I've heard that Cypress is top notch. I've also heard that it's very demanding and the instructors are always on you. Will I at least have enough time to sleep?

Are you kidding me? Sleep during nursing school!!!!! That is unheard of! lol The instructors are very demanding. Some a little more than others. If you get accepted, let me know! I can direct you to the right instructors that are awesome and FAIR!

You're too funny. My email is [email protected]. Can you send me an address or should I just contact you here? I'm in Physiology right now and will apply in the fall. Your info would be valued beyond belief. FAIR is all I ask and I know life just isn't that way sometimes.

hey jennifer who are you taking for physiology? i was wondering if there's summer classes for either physiology or micro and if there is, do you guys recommend taking a prerequisite science class during the summer?

ELAC has physiology for the summer and its like 16 weeks or less. Take with Canales. Alot of work but easy!!!!!! I know...at ELAC??? But they take anyone cuz alot of people drop (at least when I took it there). Plus, if you do your work and study, you should get an "A" which will help get you in a program.

help me out here.. what school is ELAC?

ELAC is East Los Angeles College

hey caligirl how long did it take you to get into the cypress nursing? and if i finish my prerequisite by next spring, then that means i have to apply in september of fall to get into the program in spring right?

oh and BTW Canales has a terrible rating. she is very hard people say haha no point of wasting my summer goin so far to a hard teacher but thanks for the recommendation :)

What do you think about taking anatomy during the summer? At Cypress I think it's a six or seven week long class. Would I be killing myself with that?
