CSU San Marcos ABSN Fall 2013

Hi fellow pre-nursing students!

I'd like to start a thread to those applying or have already applied to the ABSN program for Fall 2013 (Temecula/San Marcos locations)

I personally have not applied yet. I still have Anatomy and Microbiology in progress this Spring semester and will be completing Physiology during Summer. I'd like to apply soon, but quite hesitant since I still have quite a number of courses IP.

I will be contacting an advisor within this week and will definitely update this thread with further information. It might be too early to say, but good luck to all of us!

fancyeyes: Since it is on a rolling basis you can apply at anytime. Maybe once all your pre-reqs are done I would apply and then you will be entered into both the spring and the fall semesters.

ya i'll be done around the end of August so maybe i'll apply then....does anyone know if you need to first apply to the CSU on CSUmentor? Or just directly submit an app to the school?

Is it too late to be accepted for the Fall 2013 cohort? I still have to take physiology in the Summer, but that's my last prerequisite. My TEAS exam is not scheduled until June 16, 2013.

When are you officially done with your physiology class? If its before August then I think you should be able to? They said to me that they need all of your prerequisites done and evaluated 3-4 weeks or earlier before the session starts. Hope that helps.

Apply first to the ABSN extended learning program application. Once you're accepted, then you fill out the CSU Mentor application:

Application to the University

Students admitted to the ABSN program will be required to submit an admission application to CSUSM.*NOTE: DO NOT APPLY TO THE UNIVERSITY UNTIL YOU HAVE BEEN ACCEPTED TO THE ABSN PROGRAM!

My physio class will be done by mid-July so I will definitely apply! Thanks for your help. Do you happen to have an idea if the slots are all or mostly filled up?

I was reading the earlier posts that someone talked to the advisor and they made it sound like they aren't filled up yet. I just took my final yesterday and received my grade on my last prerequisites (my grades won't be mailed till the second week of June) so I won't hear back till around the first week of July at the earliest. We will definitely be able to see when they stop taking people in what month as we go into summer. Good luck with physiology!

Oops, I emailed an advisor about how long it should take a few months ago and he said:

Academic evaluations typically take 6-8 weeks after the final required document is submitted.

I have read however that some people heard as soon as 2-3 weeks so its all depending on how quick they are with the amount of apps. E-mail them just to clarify because I do not want to give you the wrong info.

That's weird, a lot of the CSUs have told me that opposite...that you can't apply to the program unless you're first accepted to the school on CSUmentor...

I believe that applies to programs such as CSU-Long Beach's. However, for CSUSM, you apply for the BSN program first and then apply to the CSU system after being accepted. This is actually more favorable towards us as we don't have to wait for the system-wide CSU deadline.

I do and you can definitely add me to get it started but I can't figure out how to PM you on here. It's saying I'm not active enough? If you're able to send me a PM I'll reply if I can, otherwise you can e-mail the gmail acct I use to advertise for tutoring, it's [email protected]. Just send me an e-mail there and I'll reply with how to find me on Facebook (I was a high school teacher for a year so I had to heighten my FB security haha).
