Hi there,

After lurking on this site for over 6 years, I finally took my first baby step in becoming a nurse this summer, and took a CNA class. I am graduating in two weeks and am looking for a position in a hospital.

I know, I know, everyone says you have to start in LTC or SNF, but my objective down the road is to work in acute care, so I figured I'd try to get my foot in the door as early as possible...

Anyone knows of positions for a CNA, Patient Care Tech, Hospital Assistant etc. in the Bay Area hospitals?

I've been applying online on their websites, and scouring craig's list but nothing's turning up so far...

p.s. is it true a certificate in acute care training is necessary to work in a hospital setting?

p.s.2 I Loooooooooove Allnurses!!!

I guess, more than notification of openings, I need your tips on the best way to apply for these type jobs: phone, in person, online? Any particular things I should be on the look out for, things that are good to mention etc.

Any other tricks of the trade would greatly be appreciated!

I just went through the phone book and called every single nursing home! I finally got an interview and now Im waiting on the call back! *fingers crossed*
